Snow-in-Summer

Melaleuca linariifolia

This small tree is commonly found in swamps and watercourses in coastal heath and dry forests from south-east Queensland to southern New South Wales.

The crown can be covered by fluffy clusters of white or creamy white flowers for a short period between October and February.

The trunk is short, often highly branched with a pale, papery bark carrying a dense canopy of leaves up to 40 mm long and arranged in pairs.

Shoot growth continues after flowering, so clusters of small rounded woody fruits are surrounded by foliage.

It is planted in southern Australia as a garden and street tree and will tolerate areas of poor drainage.

How high can I grow? Up to 10m.
