Bull Kauri

Agathis microstachya

This large, stately conifer tree occurs naturally only in the rainforests of the Atherton Tableland in far north Queensland. It is distinguished from the Queensland Kauri by its coarse flaky brown to grey-brown bark, shorter leaves and smaller male and female cones. It is rarely seen outside its natural habitat.

The timber is soft, light and cream to pale brown in colour, easy to work and polish. It was once used for house framing and flooring.

How high can I grow? Up to 50m.
